Character identification

The fruit is oblate or oval, 1.5-3 mm long and 1.5 mm thick to 1 mm in diameter. The surface is reddish-brown with wrinkles or ridges. One side is ribbed. One side is slightly flat or grooved, and some are house handles. The pericarp is crunchy, easily crushed, and the membranous coat closely adheres to the inner surface of the pericarp. The endosperm is white and rich in oil. Gas slightly, tasteless. It is better to use red and full.

Microscopic identification

Powder characteristics: reddish brown.

1 Most of the perianth palisade cells are connected, and the wall is mucinized, often connected with crystal thick-walled cells. Broken in the view of a cylindrical, long (radial) 40-132μm, wide (tangential) 12-26μm, cell wall longitudinal thin stripes thickened thickening part of the edge was fine-toothed. 4 Crystalline thick-walled cells are brownish-yellow, in pieces or connected. Section view is rectangular, diameter 10-25pm, wall thickness, woody, containing round oxalate calcium cluster cells; surface view was polygonal, wall thickness.

5 Small thick-walled cells are round or polygonal in shape, with a diameter of 8-21μm, a wall thickness of 4-8μm, and few pores.

6 Calcium oxalate clusters are elliptical, oblong or round, 7-26 μm in diameter and 35 μm long. The apexes are flat and angular, and they are present in thick-walled cells or scattered.
