In this trial, the researchers randomly selected 479 patients with high cholesterol, which are at high risk for potential cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Among these participants, 79% of patients took statins, and the other 31% took ezetimibe. The participants were from the United States, Canada, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, and none of them used monoclonal antibodies to lower cholesterol.
The researchers injected different doses of inclisiran into the participants by subcutaneous injection, some with inclisiran monotherapy, and some with placebo. The level of cholesterol change and its side effects were observed for eight months.
The results showed that participants' low-density cholesterol levels decreased by 51% one month after receiving inclisiran monotherapy.
