Newly-produced laying hens must limit production

Many chicken farmers believe that when spring breeding new laying hens produce eggs in the winter, the higher the egg production rate, the better. This is not the case. Because the new laying hens produce more than 60% eggs in winter, they will stop moulting at the peak of the laying season in the spring, especially those egg breeder chickens. The spring time is when the eggs are collected and the chicks are bred. It will also affect hatching due to the lack of influence of eggs. If the egg laying rate of new laying hens is too high in winter, even if they are not discontinued next spring, the protein concentration will be low and the quality will be poor, which will affect the hatching rate and the survival rate of the chicks. The winter laying rate of new laying hens should generally be controlled between 40% and 50%, and should not exceed 60%. The method of controlling the egg production rate of new laying hens is mainly to adjust the ratio of protein and carbohydrate in the diet. The protein content in the feed of the new laying hens should be maintained at 16% to 17%, and the metabolic energy is kept at 11.3 to 11.6 MJ/kg. When the egg production rate is over 50%, the protein content in the feed should be reduced to 13.5% to 14.5%, and the metabolic energy should be increased to 11.8 to 12 MJ/kg. After the spring of next year, the protein content in feed will be increased to 15.5% to 16.5%, and the metabolic energy will be reduced to 11.3 to 11.6 MJ/kg. In this way, the new laying hens can continue to mature, but also increase the egg production, but also conducive to breeding and production of improved breeder chickens.
