Cucumber sheds in the shed create high market efficiency

Jiyang City, Shandong Province is located along the Yellow River, and the groundwater level is very low. The vegetable farmer of Yaoji Village in Qudi Town of the city used the characteristics of low local groundwater level to design a new planting pattern, which was the model of “pre-colonial cucumber sheds in the shed”. Grooves are planted in large trenches, and cucumbers grown in sheds and lotus roots outside sheds do not interfere with each other, making full use of space and gaining high benefits.

This pattern of planting in Jiyang City is suitable only for some areas with low groundwater levels. However, we can see from this that as long as we are willing to use our brains, adapt our measures to local conditions, make full use of local resources, and select suitable crops, we can obtain higher benefits. It is difficult to make breakthroughs in production and increase efficiency without sticking to the old traditions, or “copying and scooping on the gourd,” without taking into account the local actual conditions.
