Pre-weaned piglets

1. Remove the amniotic membrane in time: There are still some amniotic membranes surrounding the surface of the piglets, especially if the oral cavity and nostrils are not removed in time, which will lead to suffocation. Therefore, the amnion should be removed immediately after birth so as to ensure smooth breathing. 2. Cut off the umbilical cord: The umbilical cord is the channel for nutrient exchange between the mother and the child. After birth, the piglet must be cut off in time and leave 3-5 cm. Disinfect the fracture with iodine to prevent bacterial infection. 3. Tooth removal: There are two pairs of upper and lower pairs of piglets, which should be cut immediately after birth to avoid damaging the sow's udders or nipples during breast-feeding. 4. Colostrum: Colostrum is rich in nutrients and immunoglobulins. It is helpful for improving the immunity of postpartum piglets. It is necessary to allow the piglets to eat colostrum in time to improve their viability. 5. Fixed nipples: The amount of milk produced by each pair of breasts of the sow is different. In general, the amount of milk produced by the first few pairs of breasts is higher than that of the latter pairs. Therefore, the smaller, weaker piglets are used to assist in the consumption of colostrum. At the same time, it is fixed in the first few pairs of nipples, which can effectively reduce death and promote its survival and rejuvenation. 6. Keeping temperature: The newborn piglet leaves the mother's comfortable environment. After the output, the body temperature regulation ability is very poor, and the adaptability to the external environment is low. The insulation and anti-freeze extrusion need to be strengthened. It is required that the piglet be kept cold and warm during the lactation period. Give the sow a good and comfortable environment, avoid harassment of various kinds of bad stress, and prevent the adverse consequences of the sow resting on the crushed piglet. 7. Survival: Some post-partum piglets stopped breathing, but the heart was still beating. This was suspended animation. First-aid method: 1 Put the piglets on their four limbs upwards, support the shoulders and back with one hand and the buttocks on the other hand, and then stretch them flexibly and repeatedly until the piglet can breathe and give a call. 2 Apply alcohol or other stimulants to the snout or activate with acupuncture. 3 Clean the mouth and nose mucus of the piglets with a clean towel, and then blow on the nostrils of the piglets. 4 Lift the hind legs of the piglets to force the mucus out of the trachea and tap the chest continuously with your hands until a call is made. 8. Coincidence fostering: When encountering sows with excessive farrowing, the sow has no post-partum lactation or lack of milk production. Sows should be fostered in time to the sows with more lactation to reduce deaths. It should be noted that: 1 The nursed pig must have had its mother's colostrum. 2 The difference between the piglet and the pig to be raised should not exceed 3 days. 3 The foster scent must be the same as that of the foster piglet. It can be wiped on the foster piglet with the urine of the foster sow, or sprayed with alcohol to make it impossible to identify the foster pig. Otherwise the sow will refuse to feed, bite or bite the foster piglets. 9. Feeding iron: The start of grazing begins with pellets 7-10 days after birth. Put fried beans or cereals, or prepared sucker feed in the chute or in a clean place, and mix in some saccharin to induce food. After one week, the piglets will eat. Iron and selenium are indispensable elements for growth and development of piglets. They must be iron supplemented at 3 days after the birth of piglets and injected with 1 ml of 0.1% sodium selenite to prevent diarrhea due to nutritional anemia and selenium deficiency. 10. Early drinking water: The lack of water will reduce the appetite of the piglets and weaken digestion, impair the health of the piglets, and lead to diarrhoea due to thirst. Fresh, clean drinking water must be provided for warm and hot water in cold weather. 11. Ingenious inoculation: Piglets must be scientifically immunized. 7-day-old pigs were immunized with pseudorabies vaccine; 15 days of age were used for vaccination against asthmatic attenuated bacteria; 20 days of age were given for swine fever vaccine; 25 days of age were used for paratyphoid vaccination of piglets. Immunization with erysipelas, pneumonia, Japanese encephalitis, parvovirus, etc. must also be done, and it is best to proceed flexibly according to local successful immunization programs.
